Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers before you get started.

Have questions about treatment, pricing, or your first visit? Here’s what to know about care at Peak Performance Sports Therapy in Blue Ash.

Do I need to be an athlete to come here?

No. We work with active adults of all ages and abilities. Whether you want to run, golf, lift, travel, or move more comfortably throughout your day, we’ll build your care around what matters to you.

What conditions do you treat?

We help people with muscle, joint, and tendon concerns, including back and neck pain, shoulder pain, hip and knee pain, plantar heel pain, Achilles problems, and sports-related injuries.

We also provide physical therapy before and after surgery. If you’re unsure whether we’re the right fit, contact us and tell us what’s going on.

What services do you offer?

Our services include one-on-one physical therapy, manual therapy, exercise therapy, dry needling, cupping, focused and radial shockwave, EMTT, and MLS laser therapy.

Your plan may include a combination of approaches. We’ll explain our recommendations and help you understand your options.

What happens at my first appointment?

We’ll discuss your symptoms, health history, previous treatment, and goals.

For a physical therapy evaluation, we’ll assess relevant movement, strength, and mobility, explain our findings, and develop your next steps. Treatment may begin during that visit when appropriate.

Visit our Your First Visit page for more details.

Do I need a referral?

In many cases, you can begin physical therapy in Ohio without a physician’s referral. Certain circumstances or insurance reimbursement requirements may call for additional documentation.

Contact us if you have questions about your situation.

Do you accept insurance?

We are a self-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly.

For eligible physical therapy services, we can provide a superbill—an itemized receipt you may submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage depends on your plan, the service provided, and your insurer’s requirements. Reimbursement is not guaranteed.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Eligible healthcare expenses may qualify for payment with HSA or FSA funds. Eligibility and documentation requirements can vary by service and plan.

Check with your plan administrator if you’re unsure. We can provide an itemized receipt.

How much does physical therapy cost?

  • Initial evaluation: $170

  • 60-minute treatment session: $160

  • 30-minute treatment session: $90

Other services and packages have separate pricing. Visit our Pricing page or contact us for help choosing the appropriate appointment.

How many visits will I need?

That depends on your condition, goals, starting point, and response to care.

After your assessment, we’ll discuss a recommended schedule and reassess as you progress. We’ll also explain what you can do between appointments to support your recovery.

How quickly will I notice a difference?

Responses vary. Some people notice changes early; others need more time and a gradual progression of treatment and exercise.

We’ll track meaningful changes in your symptoms and ability to do the things you enjoy, then adjust your plan as needed.

Does treatment have to hurt?

Your comfort matters. Some techniques may feel uncomfortable, but you should always feel able to speak up and ask us to adjust or stop.

We’ll explain what to expect and choose an approach that fits your needs and tolerance.

Will I be sore afterward?

Temporary soreness can occur after some treatments or new exercises. We’ll discuss what to expect based on your session.

Soreness is not required for treatment to be helpful. Contact us if your symptoms feel unexpected, are worsening, or leave you concerned.

What should I wear or bring?

Wear comfortable clothing that lets you move and provides access to the area being assessed.

Complete your intake forms before arriving, and bring relevant imaging reports, surgical information, or provider recommendations if available.

What if I’ve already tried treatment elsewhere?

We’ll review what you’ve tried, what helped, and where you’re still having difficulty.

Your assessment gives us an opportunity to reconsider your needs and discuss whether our approach is appropriate. If another type of evaluation or care would be more useful, we’ll explain that.

Do you coordinate with other healthcare providers?

Yes. With your permission, we can communicate with your physician, surgeon, or other treating providers to support your care.

When additional medical evaluation is appropriate, we can help guide your next steps.
